A pulsing bed
A servo-driven conveyor pulses back and forth as the pouch travels, dispersing and levelling the contents ready for carton or box loading. The movement is controlled, so it can be tuned to the product rather than simply shaken.
01Engineered solution
A filled pouch is lumpy. Packed lumpy, it wastes case volume and jams the loader. Settling the contents flat on the way past costs nothing in line time, because it happens while the product is already moving.
02Methods
All of them disperse what is inside the pouch so its profile is even enough to load into a carton or box.
A servo-driven conveyor pulses back and forth as the pouch travels, dispersing and levelling the contents ready for carton or box loading. The movement is controlled, so it can be tuned to the product rather than simply shaken.
Thumpers settle the contents by striking the underside of the product as it passes, for product that responds better to a tap than to lateral movement.
Pneumatic pushers act on the pouch to flatten it toward the profile the packing step needs.
03What it gains
The value is partly in the packing and partly in not having to interrupt the line to get it.
Settling the contents of the pouch makes it easier to package, because a flatter, more even pouch loads into a carton predictably.
It is an in-line process. Product does not have to be diverted, stopped or handled to be settled.
Settling can be combined with height detection equipment, which is how leaks are found: a pouch that will not settle to the expected height is not sealed.
Product keeps its spacing through the settling section, so the downstream loader still receives the pitch it expects.
04Related solutions
Settling sits between filling and packing, so it touches both.
