03Definition
What qualifies as high speed?
The definition depends on the user and process. From an engineering perspective, the source platform classifies conveyors capable of exceeding 500 ft/min (152.4 m/min) as high speed.
Some systems operate consistently at high speed, while others use short, repeatable bursts. The product, process timing and surrounding equipment determine which speed profile and high-tech capabilities an integrated system requires.

04Process applications

05Conveyor elasticity
Belt behavior matters at speed.
Continuous high-speed running—and repeated acceleration, braking and restarting—places additional stress on the conveyor and belt.
The belt needs enough elasticity to manage dynamic tension without compromising control. Low elongation is equally critical because it limits stretch, reduces strain on the conveyor and supports repeatable positioning.
- Acceleration
- Controlled response
- Braking
- Managed belt tension
- Elongation
- Kept low
- Positioning
- Repeatable
06Advantages
Fast without becoming wasteful.
High-speed belt conveyors can improve output, production timing and floor-space use when belt design, product load and controls are matched correctly.
Lightweight
Relatively light belt designs support consistent top speeds while retaining the strength, elasticity and durability required for moderate loads.
Economic
Faster, accurate movement can increase throughput across the whole line while promoting efficient energy use and output for the selected operation.
Efficient
Sustained speed or strategic bursts move more products to the next stage. The greatest efficiency is often achieved with lighter loads.
Cost-effective
Higher speed can reduce material weight per conveyor unit length and support a compact installation that uses floor space efficiently.
07Platform capabilities
Two approaches to high-speed movement.
The 3200 Standard Line supports sustained high-speed transport, while Precision Move is designed for accuracy, indexing and short bursts beyond its typical rated speed.
Continuous speedAStandard line
3200 belted conveyor
Belted configurations can reach 600 ft/min (182.9 m/min). Standard widths extend to 48 in (1,219 mm), with wider arrangements available, and load capacity reaches 300 lb (136 kg) depending on configuration.
- Automated assembly
- Part handling and positioning
- Routing and precision movement
- Accumulation and transfer
Modular-belt configurations in the series can achieve speeds of 400 ft/min (121.9 m/min).
Precision burstsBPrecision line
3200 Precision Move
Typical speeds reach 517 ft/min (157.6 m/min), with controlled bursts capable of exceeding 500 ft/min. Belt widths range from 4–18 in (102–457 mm) in 2 in (51 mm) increments, and load capacity reaches 750 lb (340 kg) depending on configuration.
- Small-part handling and positioning
- Automated assembly
- Machine integration
- Precision indexing
- Robotic pick-and-place

08Industry applications
High speed across different environments.
High-speed roller and belt conveyors can support many industries, with particularly strong applications in production, food handling, fulfillment and general material handling.
Agriculture production
Accelerate processes such as animal-feed packaging and hay-bale bundling while supporting automated packaging, assembly and safer handling.
Baking and confectionery
Support heating and cooling, accumulation, sorting, grouping, spacing, merging and separation. High-speed sortation helps organize small products accurately while food-safe designs serve chocolates, gum and pastries.
Meat and poultry
High-speed systems designed around USDA requirements can serve processing, handling, packaging, sorting and case-conveying applications while supporting sanitation and consistent quality.
E-commerce
Handle parcel inspection, pacing, indexing, spacing, gapping, sortation, accumulation, rejection, depositing, merging, diverting and product rotation in high-volume fulfillment.
Material handling
Improve product quality, movement and flow while maximizing space, increasing uptime, reducing labor cost and supporting accuracy, productivity and worker safety.
